Why are we paying through the nose for energy when the profits of these big companies just keep getting bigger? It’s a racket, plain and simple. They hike prices the second global markets wobble, but where's the relief when things calm down? Nowhere to be seen. It feels like we’re being held to ransom by a bunch of fat cats who don’t give a toss about ordinary families trying to keep the lights on.
My proposal is straightforward: bring energy companies back into public ownership. Not some watered-down version, but proper, nationalised control. Imagine that – energy prices set based on what it actually costs to produce and deliver, not what shareholders demand. We’d have investment in green tech driven by need, not profit, and no more worrying about being plunged into darkness because some CEO decided to line his pockets.
This isn't some wild-eyed fantasy. It’s common sense.
