Put Real Workers in Charge of Foreign Affairs, Not Toffs
The idea of having Parliament rubber-stamp diplomatic appointments is a start, but it doesn't go far enough. It's not just about who gets the job, it's about what they actually do once they're there. We’ve got too many people in positions of power who have never known a day's real work, jetting around the world on our dime.
We need people in foreign service who understand the lives of ordinary working people, both here and abroad. Not some privately educated chap who thinks a trade deal is about haggling over the price of a pint. We should be appointing people with practical experience, who know how to get things done for the benefit of the nation, not just their mates.
Forget parliamentary committees; we need a system that actively selects people based on their proven ability to represent working people's interests.
