Local Policing For Wales, Not Westminster's Mess

This idea of local policing is a good one, but it's baffling that it's even a debate originating from Westminster. We've been saying for years that decisions about policing, like so many other things, should be made right here in Wales, not dictated by bureaucrats who can't even find Cardiff on a map. Our police forces should be accountable to the Senedd and the people of Wales, reflecting our unique needs and priorities, not just implementing some vague national strategy.

Look at history. When power is concentrated in London, areas like ours often get the short end of the stick. We need our police to understand the local context, the specific challenges faced by communities from the Valleys to the coast, not just follow orders from afar. This means investing in Welsh-speaking officers who can connect with every part of our society and truly serve our communities, not just patrol them.
