Why are we spending billions on weapons when our coastlines are drowning? Defence needs a rethink.

Seriously, what are we even defending if our towns are underwater and our food systems are collapsing? This whole idea of defence as just tanks and planes seems so outdated. We're facing existential threats that climate change is directly causing, yet our military budget is still stuck in the last century. It’s like bringing a sword to a tidal wave fight.

We need to fundamentally redefine what "defence" means. Instead of pouring money into offensive capabilities, let’s pivot hard into climate resilience and environmental security. Think massive investment in coastal defences, advanced weather prediction and disaster response for extreme events, and international cooperation on climate refugees. This isn't about being soft; it's about being smart. Protecting our people means protecting our planet first.
