It’s just infuriating, isn’t it? Every time I turn on the news, it’s more money being shipped off to some far-flung place we’ve barely heard of, or talk of getting involved in another squabble that’s got nothing to do with us. And for what? Does it make life any easier for Mrs. Higgins down the road to afford her heating bills? Does it mean young lads from Grimsby have better prospects than working in that warehouse on the bypass? Of course not. It’s London politicians playing geopolitical games while our own high streets crumble and our services are stretched thinner than a cheap tea bag.
We need a complete reset. Foreign policy should be about protecting our interests, plain and simple. That means ensuring our trade routes are secure and that we’re not being taken advantage of by other countries.
