Proportional Representation is a joke, let’s actually fix things
We should get rid of the House of Lords and replace it with a directly elected chamber based on regional representation, with two members per county. It’s a total waste of money having all those Lords and Ladies who nobody voted for and most of us don't even know what they do. They just rubber stamp whatever the Commons decides or gets in the way.
This new chamber would make sure every part of the country has a proper voice. Right now, they're always banging on about London and the South East, but what about us up here in the North East? We’ve got our own issues and our own way of doing things. Having two people elected for every county, like Northumberland or Durham, would mean they’d have to listen to us. They’d be accountable directly to us, not just their party bosses.
The elections would be simple, no messing about with complicated lists or anything. People vote for their county representatives.
Justice for kids abused by grooming gangs means proper sentences and deportation, not just a quick fix to make politicians look tough.
I see those kids every day at school, love. Little ones, some of them not much older than my grandkids. You just want to wrap them up and keep them safe from everything. When I hear about these gangs, honestly, it turns my stomach. It’s not just about the kids getting hurt, it’s the whole community feeling less safe, parents worrying sick about their bairns.
And then you hear politicians talking about deporting them. Well, yeah, obviously. If you come to our country and you abuse kids, you should be out, no argument. But it feels like that’s sometimes all they offer, just a quick headline. What about the proper justice for the victims here? What about making sure these monsters get a proper sentence first, for what they did on our doorstep?
