Scrap First Past The Post Already
I'm fed up with the way our electoral system is rigged against smaller parties, it's like they want to keep the same old faces in power forever. Every election it's the same story, people voting tactically because they don't want to waste their vote, it's a joke. I've seen friends and family members vote for someone they don't really believe in just because they think it's the only way to keep the other lot out.
I'd change it to a proportional representation system, where every vote actually counts for something. It's not rocket science, other countries have been doing it for years and it seems to work just fine for them. We'd get a more representative parliament, with a diverse range of voices and opinions, not just the same old two-party dominance. It would be a breath of fresh air, and might actually encourage people to get involved in politics again.
Enough with Westminster fiddling while Scotland's NHS burns. Time for a real fix.
Why are we still relying on a system designed for another country, especially when it’s clearly not working for us up here? Our NHS is meant to serve Scotland, not English targets or whatever Whitehall thinks is important this week. It’s time we took full control and tailored healthcare to our own people, our own geography, and our own needs.
My proposal is simple: transfer all remaining devolved powers over healthcare to the Scottish Parliament, with full funding attached, and establish a distinct Scottish Health Service accountable only to us. This isn’t about reinventing the wheel; it’s about finally having the reins to do what’s right for Scotland.
Why are we still begging Westminster for scraps on energy when Scotland has so much?
Honestly, when you look at all the wind and tidal power churning away off our coast, why are we still reliant on energy policies dictated by people who probably think Scotland's just a place for a long weekend? It’s baffling. They talk about energy security, but it feels like they’re deliberately ignoring the massive potential we have right here. It’s like owning a gold mine and being forced to buy tin cans from your neighbour.
My proposal is simple: Scotland needs its own independent energy strategy, focused on harnessing our renewables at full tilt. Imagine that – not just generating power, but controlling it, ensuring it benefits Scotland first. We could invest in massive offshore wind farms, tidal barrages, and even small modular nuclear reactors if needed, all managed by Scottish bodies. This isn't just about cheaper bills, though that would be a welcome effect.
What do you think?
Vote on individual policies, adapt them, or write your own alternative. Good ideas should be tested.
