Common Sense Policing

I think it's time we got real about what works in policing, and that's giving local forces the freedom to make their own decisions, but with a bit of common sense. We can't just cut back on bureaucracy and expect everything to magically work out, cos that's not how it works. We need to look at the numbers, and the numbers say that our police forces need proper funding, but not just throwing more money at the problem.

I've seen it in my own community, where the police know the local businesses and residents, and it makes a real difference. They're not just responding to calls, they're working with us to prevent crime from happening in the first place. But to do this properly, we need to make sure our police forces are properly funded, and that means being honest about where the money is coming from, and making sure we're not just wasting it on pointless initiatives.
